We are a small team of tutors, all of whom did well at the thing they now teach, building a business around one idea: that the person sitting next to a student should be someone who has actually done it recently and done it well.
If you scored 45 or above in a subject and you like explaining things, there is work here. Up to $60 for every session you deliver, complete autonomy over how you teach, a schedule you set yourself, and every student found and managed for you. No cold outreach, no chasing payment, no admin.
Tutoring is one of the few student jobs where being good at it actually matters, and where what you are paid reflects that. Here is what the arrangement looks like.
Years 9 to 12: $60 in person, $50 online. Years 5 to 8: $50 in person, $40 online. Same rate whatever the subject. Paid per session delivered, in weekly instalments on a fixed day, without exception. Well above what most agencies pass on.
You accept the students you want, at the times you want, and you run the session however you think is best. Nobody is looking over your shoulder.
We find the students, handle the matching, chase the payments and deal with the parents. You turn up and run the session.
Introduce a student or another tutor and you get $50 once they have completed two sessions. No cap on how many, and it stacks on top of your session rate.
Teaching is one of the more rewarding things you can do with a spare evening. You build skills that transfer to anything, you are paid for every session you deliver, on your own schedule, and you genuinely change how a student feels about a subject. We make it easy to start and then we get out of your way.
Every session is a single student, one to one. You see exactly where they are stuck, you fix it that week, and you watch it land. There is no crowd control and no lesson lost to the back row.
Most students book one session a week. Plenty book two or three, either across different subjects or on the same one in the run-up to a SAC, so a single student can be several sessions of work rather than one.
You keep the same student for the year wherever possible, which means you are not re-establishing rapport every fortnight. That continuity is most of why one-to-one works.
There is no script, no mandated method and no observation quota. You decide how the session runs, what you drill, when to slow down and when to push. If a student learns best by working backwards from a past exam, do that.
You also decide who you take on. We send you a proposed student with their subject, year level and times; you say yes or no. Turning one down costs you nothing and is not held against you.
Most sessions run on the student’s own material: their SAC, their practice exam, their feedback sheet. There is rarely a lesson to plan. Beyond that, use whatever you rate: your own notes, your old bound reference, the practice papers you swear by.
We do keep a supplementary library of worked solutions, past papers, summary sheets and a session note template, and you are welcome to it. It is there if you want it, not something you are required to teach from.
You give us your availability and we only ever book inside it. Sessions run weekday afternoons, evenings and weekends, and you set how many you want each term, two a week or twelve, across as many or as few students as suits you.
Change it whenever you need to. Drop to nothing over exam block, pick the same students back up afterwards, take a semester off for placement or exchange. Nothing here asks you to choose between tutoring and your own degree.
This is the one thing we do not move on. A 48 in Chemistry does not qualify you to teach English. The score has to be in the subject, and we verify it from your statement of results before your first session.
It is a high bar and it is the whole proposition, so we would rather turn down a good candidate than weaken it. If you clear it, you are joining a roster where everyone else did too, and you can say that to a parent without flinching.
Nothing here is unusual, but it is worth knowing up front so there are no surprises.
